Immediate opportunities for candidates with 1 – 3 years experience and candidates with 3 – 6 years experience with a solid track record in insurance defense litigation, including depositions, motion practice and court appearances in the five boroughs and Long Island. Excellent writing and analytical skills required. Automobile liability and/or construction labor law experience a plus. Only candidates with relevant prior experience should apply. Managing Clerk – Manhattan
Havkins Rosenfeld Ritzert & Varriale, LLP, which has offices in Manhattan, Mineola and White Plains, seeks a Managing Clerk. Qualified candidates should have 5 or more years of experience in management of a calendar/docketing department. Candidates should be proficient in the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as electronic filing requirements for all local State and Federal Courts.
Responsibilities include handling the calendar for attorneys (adjourning/confirming: conferences, depositions, motions); e-filing court documents, review of documents for form and procedural compliance to identify and remedy potential defects based upon the particular court's requirements, file documents in, and retrieve information from, court docket databases, e.g. NYSCEF, Pacer, E-Law.
Excellent organization and interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task required. Management responsibilities include supervising 2-3 assistant clerks in proper docketing, delegation of tasks as needed, e-filing, developing procedures for all departments as needed, supporting all paralegals/assistants and attorneys in complying with the above rules and procedures, and day-to-day operations of the department. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and using document and case management software required.
File Clerk/Office Assistant – Mineola
Responsibilities include maintaining and organizing a large volume files of litigation documents on daily basis. Other duties include scanning of documents, photocopying, processing mail, and general office duties. Must be reliable, accurate, able to multi-task and have a cooperative work ethic. Prior law firm experience preferred
Office Manager/Legal Assistant
Qualified candidate will have prior management experience, be people oriented and able to effectively supervise office staff and day to day operations and maintain a balance between Office Manager and Legal Assistant aspects of the position. Must have the ability to exercise initiative; apply policies and principles to make decisions; solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; prioritize and coordinate administrative support, schedule work assignments and direct the work of subordinate employees. Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, and strong attention to detailed required. Minimum of three (3) years of litigation assistant experience, preferably insurance defense and commercial litigation, strong working knowledge of MS Office applications. Additional responsibilities will include creating, revising and proofreading legal documents and correspondence, while working with multiple attorneys. Prepare TOC and TOA. E--Filing a plus.
